FamilyCLICK has ceased operating its filtering service until further notice. The FamilyCLICK management team is in discussions with the high-speed Internet Service industry to offer FamilyCLICK parental controls as an embedded feature like those offered by dial-ups AOL, MSN and Earthlink.

We encourage all high-speed customers in particular to contact their local high-speed provider and ask them to offer parental controls as part of your monthly service. Please continue to check our website for future developments and announcements. Thanks for your interest and support of FamilyCLICK. We strongly recommend continued use of an online filter in combination with parental oversight to more effectively safeguard children while they are online.

FamilyCLICK Recommends Bsafe Online
In the interim, we recommend Bsafe Online for those customers interested in utilizing a server-based filtering solution. Bsafe Online will fulfill the remainder of all FamilyCLICK subscriptions. You can contact Bsafe at support@bsafeonline.com

Current customers must deactivate and uninstall FamilyCLICK
FamilyCLICK customers must deactivate and uninstall FamilyCLICK if you want to access the Internet. Here's how:

  1. Go to Start-Run. Type "regedit" and hit enter.
  2. In the Registry Editor on the left side expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER by clicking on the "+" beside it.
  3. Under HKEY_CURRENT_USER expand Software.
  4. Under Software expand Policies.
  5. Under Policies expand Microsoft.
  6. Under Microsoft expand Internet Explorer.
  7. Click on the folder icon next to Control Panel. This will reveal 3 icons in the right side of the split screen. Make sure the address at the bottom of the screen reads exactly as follows:

    My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel

  8. Double click in the right side of the split screen on the icon next to Autoconfig. This will open a small window titled "Edit DWORD Value".
  9. Change the value data to a zero (just press the zero on your keypad) and click OK.
  10. Repeat step 8 for the icon next to Proxy in the screen on the right below Autoconfig.
  11. Click on the "X" in the upper right corner of your screen to close the Windows Registry Editor.
Now you need to remove the FamilyCLICK settings in your browser.

  1. Open Control Panel and click on Internet Options, then click on Connections.
  2. If the Internet connection is via a dial up telephone modem, in the middle of the screen is a white box listing dial up settings. Locate the setting marked (default) and click on it, highlighting it in blue. Next to this on the right click on Settings. Delete the address next to "Use an Automatic configuration script" and then remove the check mark next to it.

If the Internet connection is via DSL or cable, just click on the LAN Settings button in the bottom right of the window. Delete the address next to "Use an Automatic configuration script" and then remove the check mark next to it.
The FamilyCLICK settings have now been removed and the next time you launch your browser you should not be prompted to sign in to FamilyCLICK.
